Happy 4th of July!!! After reading  this page on my friend Arwen’s blog on I decided to make my own list of things I love about America. Some are more serious, some are silly, but I love them all. Here it goes…

1. Our Military

Everyone knows we have the best military of all time. These brave troops keep our home safe and protect us from enemies. If you don’t support our troops, you don’t deserve to live in America.

2. Our freedom

Freedom of speech, Freedom of press, Freedom of Religion and so many more.

3. Being able to Vote

I think I would go crazy if I didn’t have a say in what’s happening in my own country.

4. Women’s rights

I am so thankful to be a woman in America. Hopefully one day the rest of the world will catch up.

5. Our beautiful landscape

We’ve got it all. Mountains, desert, beaches, fields, valleys, forests.

6. Things that are Uniquely American

Like the superbowl and rednecks!!! haha. and a ton more.

7. American symbols

Bald Eagle, Statue of Liberty, the American Flag, Washington Monument. All these things leave me with a sense of pride.

8. Our “Melting Pot”

We don’t even have to leave the country to experience different cultures. I love it.

9. American Food

What can beat a good burger and fries?

10. American Music

Okay, England has a lot of good music, but so does America. Boston, The Eagles, Avenged Sevenfold, Kansas, etc. Backstreet Boys or Nsync anyone? haha.

11. American Literature

Robert Frost, Herman Melville, Jack London, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne. Stephanie Meyer (Twilight?!?! haha).

12. American Shopping

Nothing beats American malls. Nothing.

13. Our Flag

Not only is our flag a symbol of pride, it’s pretty cool looking too.

14. Our Presidents

Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Jackson, Kennedy, Reagan. These guys (and the others) rock.

15. New York City

I have one word for New York City. Amazing.

16. Our completely dysfunctional celebrities

Britney Spears a year ago would be a good example.

17. Our cute guys

You have to admit, American boys are hot.

18. Our magazines

As a magazine connoisseure, I like American magazines the best.

19. Thanksgiving

I really don’t know what I would do without Thanksgiving.

20. Backyard Barbeques

So much fun and such tasty food.

21. Tall Tales

Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox, Pecos Bill. Great stories.

22. Our Sports

Football, Baseball (my favorite), Basketball.

23. Our History

Although it got redundant in school, America has a pretty impressive history.

24. Free Refills

One of my least favorite things about foreign countries is no free refills and no ice in the drinks.

25. The fact that people from completely different ethnic backgrounds can all be 100% American
